Empowering Learners for the Digital Future
At Specialists Junior School, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is at the heart of modern learning.
We equip our learners with the digital skills, creativity, and confidence needed to thrive in today’s connected world.
From simple typing and coding to research, design, and communication, our pupils don’t just use technology — they learn to create with it.
- Basic computer operations
- Use of applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Creativity and innovation in projects
- Responsible digital behavior
Our Teaching Approach
Specialists Junior School equips learners with practical digital skills through hands-on ICT (Computer Studies) lessons — coding, creativity, and responsible technology use.
ICT lessons are practical and engaging. Learners work directly on computers, exploring real-world applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Every lesson encourages critical thinking and experimentation, helping pupils learn by doing.
We start with the basics — introducing computer parts, care and safety, and responsible use.
As learners progress through the grades, they master:
Typing and mouse control
File management and document creation
Basic software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Internet use and online safety
Digital communication and collaboration tools
Through age-appropriate programming activities, learners are introduced to the logic of coding using beginner-friendly tools such as Scratch or block-based programming platforms.
They learn how to design animations, create mini-games, and understand how algorithms work — nurturing innovation and problem-solving from an early age.
ICT is woven into every subject area.
Learners use technology to research for Science projects, design charts for Mathematics, write essays for English, and present findings for Social Studies.
This integrated approach turns the computer lab into a creative hub of exploration.
Digital Citizenship and Online Safety
At Specialists Junior School, we build not just computer users — but digital citizens. We teach learners to be safe, respectful, and responsible users of technology. Lessons cover:
- Internet safety and privacy
- Cyberbullying awareness
- Responsible social media use
- Respect for intellectual property and digital ethics
